A retired Richard is driving Emily mad, so she calls in her blackmail-acquired favor from last episode and sends him off to spend the day in Stars Hollow with his daughter. Lorelai is at a loss for how to interact with her father and despite his (questionably) best intentions, Richard can’t help but critique everything Lorelai does — including how she conducts business, dresses, drinks coffee in the morning, orders Chinese food, or the gifts she allows Rory to accept from her boyfriend.
