Explaining China‘s Economic Miracle

IEA Podcast - Un pódcast de Institute of Economic Affairs - Viernes

The so called ‘Chinese economic miracle’ has been analysed by economists for decades. How was China, with 88 percent of it's population living in extreme poverty as recently as 1981, able to reduce this rate to less than one percent? Never in the history of the world have so many hundreds of millions of people risen from abject poverty to the middle class in such a short time.  To discuss the Chinese economic miracle, IEA Communications and Public Affairs Officer Kieran Neild-Ali was joined by Dr Rainer Zitelmann, a historian and sociologist. He is also a world-renowned author, successful businessman and real estate investor. He wrote for the IEA Blog on the Chinese economic miracle earlier this month, which you can read here.  Support the IEA on Patreon, where we give you the opportunity to directly help us continue producing stimulating and educational online content, whilst subscribing to exclusive IEA perks, benefits and priority access to our content https://patreon.com/iealondon   FOLLOW US: TWITTER - https://twitter.com/iealondon INSTAGRAM - https://www.instagram.com/ieauk/ FACEBOOK - https://www.facebook.com/ieauk WEBSITE - https://iea.org.uk/
