Sometimes you have to talk out current events... With the news that Warner Bros is sending their ENTIRE 2021 theatrical slate to the HBO Max Streaming Service in the States for an exclusive 30 day window that will sync up with their release in theatres around the world it brings up some interesting questions. Yeah it's a moot point because here in Canada we are the rest of the world and we're just getting a theatrical release (once theatres are somewhat open again) but with more and more films heading the online space it does beg the question of how are we going to be consuming our films? Not only that but how are they going to be made? Will the larger then life tent-pole brand of film die or will it be all that is left? The business and creative aspects of all these questions and many more are pretty fascinating. We sat down with two friends of the show for a lively discussion on the topic; Eric Marchen host on Cinema Seen on Rogers cable as well as the "Untitled Movie" series of podcasts available wherever all podcasts are available and Christian Burgess, a programmer and manager of publicity and promotions at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival on this very topic...and they had lots to say...
