In 'Audible' we go to the Maryland School Of The Deaf and young football player Amaree McKenstry-Hall as he and his teammates are set to defend their winning streak while coming to grips with the loss of a close friend. These graduation students are tackling the mounting pressures of adapting to life in the hearing world while tackling the adversity of growing up while finding their own unique way to make some noise and a statement in a world that is waiting for them. We talk with director Matt Ogens about the premiere of his film here at Hot Docs which runs until May 9th (eventually on Netflix in June). I ask him about the unique structure of the film, making something truly cinematic with little to no spoken dialogue and the freedom of the storytelling in the streaming world where timing isn't always an issue...
