Our emotional fitness is measured by the quality of our relationship with uncertainty. The core ingredient of uncertainty is change. Change is not a change of direction, it IS the direction which all life moves! Our emotional health suffers when we resist the inevitable and continual change our lives offer us as experience. It is when we get stuck in our past, our historical narrative, or to a sentimental thing, that we drain away life’s energy away from what is happening right now (ie life!). Whilst there is nothing wrong with looking at our past, there is a problem if we stare at our past. Our past is gone, it no longer exists, let it go! We recently did a massive clean out as we are preparing a shift/move in lifestyle. Trapped in our cupboards for the last 20 years, have been my primary school uniform, my wife’s wedding gown, my Michael Jackson vinyl collection, my childhood teddy bears and on it goes. We got rid of it all. A friend said…but don’t you want to keep it for sentimental value? The sentimental value is in my heart and it is time to rid ourselves of the physical version of our past. It felt so cathartic getting rid of all those things, whether they were given away, sold or thrown out. We psychologically age fast when we spend more time in the past than we do actually living our lives. Life is now. It has no pause button. Live it, experience it and love it. Let go for God’s sake😊 Thanks for listening and trust this brings value to you or someone you know.
