GUNN: It's going great. Chukwudi, who plays Murn in Peacemaker, is one of the main characters in the movie and people are freaking out over how good this guy is. Literally freaking out. I think that I'm really happy. I gave a bunch of scenes to Marvel right before Christmas break. Kevin went... They were all really, really, really stoked. But also, it's not going to be the movie people... It's different than what people are going to expect. It's a hard road, but I'm really happy with it so far. Have you started filming the holiday special yet or is that still upcoming in the shoot? GUNN: It's still upcoming in the shoot. We were supposed to shoot one day in LA, and there's too much Omicron around, so we couldn't do it. We're going to have to fit it in. I haven't started yet. I'm excited to. It's fun. The holiday special is... I'm almost jealous of it, even though I wrote it because people freak out so much on how much they love the script for the holiday special that I'm almost like, "Well, wait. I've got this movie here I've been working on for two years. You love the holiday special that I literally wrote in a very short amount of time." But, it is really funny and really good. MCU – MARVEL STUDIOS [5:54] Evidence Surfaces that Ikaris May Return Sooner Rather than Later https://www.thecosmiccircus.com/evidence-surfaces-that-ikaris-may-return-sooner-rather-than-later/ https://www.cbr.com/mcu-eternals-ikaris-may-return-evidence/ Yesterday, Emmy Kennard, known as emmytriggerzzz on social media, took to TikTok to post this video regarding her brother, Joe Kennard. [TikTok video no longer available] Thankfully, her caption states that no NDAs were broken in making this TikTok. In the video, she comedically implies that her brother, Joe Kennard, a stunt double for Richard Madden (Ikaris) in Eternals, is currently slated to work as a “character coming back into the MCU.” A look at his IMDb shows that Kennard has only worked as Madden/Ikaris’ stunt double and no other MCU character so far. It also shows that he recently stunt doubled for Madden on the miniseries Citadel (where they may have chatted about future gigs). So, all signs are very much pointing to Ikaris here. Thanks to this TikTok video, the probability of Ikaris returning has increased greatly and also become a matter of sooner rather than later. It’s possible that he’s stunt doubling for a different MCU character, of course, but this seems unlikely for reasons that I’ve stated above. The ending of Eternals saw Ikaris fly off into the sun (literally), potentially bringing about an end to his existence, but we never actually see what happens to him. This kind of open ending and the Celestials’ desire for answers about what the Eternals did to their brethren, could leave a way for that Ikaris to return. Then, of course, there is also that whole multiverse situation going on in the MCU right now which has created a possibility for practically anyone returning at any time. [9:41] Letitia Wright returns to Black Panther II set months after accident https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-59993234 Actress Letitia Wright has resumed filming on the Black Panther sequel, almost five months after being injured when a stunt went wrong. The British star, who plays Shuri, was said at the time of the accident in August to have suffered minor injuries. But Marvel's bosses later said she turned out to have sustained "a critical shoulder fracture and a concussion with severe side effects". Filming on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was suspended in November. A spokesperson for the star said she has now recovered and production has resumed. Wright's Princess of Wakanda character is expected to play a bigger part in the blockbuster's sequel. The late Chadwick Boseman led the the 2018 film and his role has not been re-cast following his death in 2020. Wright, who also appeared in Avengers films Infinity War and Endgame as well as Sir Steve McQueen's TV anthology Small Axe, was hurt in what was described as an overnight stunt rig accident in Boston. However in November, Marvel bosses revealed: "What we had initially thought were minor injuries turned out to be much more serious with Letitia suffering a critical shoulder fracture, and a concussion with severe side effects. "It has been a painful process and Letitia has been home recovering with her doctors and the support of family. "We've adjusted our production schedule so she has the time she needs to heal, but there's only so much we can do without Shuri! "We also want to thank Letitia for everything she's doing to get back to the set - we know how much she loves this role, how tough it's been for her to be away, and how hard she's working to recover as quickly as she safely can." Production was halted in November but has now resumed, according to Wright's representative and Marvel's parent company Disney. Wright's spokesperson told BBC News: "Filming resumed this month as planned and we're on schedule." This delay comes on the heels of another, with Nyong'o's co-star Letitia Wright having just recently returned to set following her recovery from a fractured shoulder and a concussion that she sustained in an incident on the film's set in November 2021. The positive COVID tests meant that production on Wakanda Forever was again halted, a week after resuming, reported THR. No details regarding the health of Nyong'o or the other cast and crew members were released. DISNEY+ [14:07] Disney Announces Plans for Expanded Livestream D23 Coverage https://www.cbr.com/disney-d23-expo-expand-livestream-coverage/ Disney announces that the livestream for its upcoming D23 Expo will feature even more announcements, panels and content for fans to enjoy. Disney announced that 2022's D23 Expo livestream will feature more panels and presentations than in previous years. In a recent announcement, Disney noted that due to a large number of fans who will be unable to attend the in-person D23 event in Anaheim, CA due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the 2022 livestream will feature "more panels and presentations than ever before." The full schedule will be announced in the days leading up to the event, which will take place between Sept. 9 and 11. Along with this announcement, D23 added two more stages, The Premiere Stage and the Backlot Stage, which will join Hall D23. As for tickets, the prices range from $89 single-day tickets and $229 three-day tickets for Gold Members, while general admission tickets will cost $99 and $270 for single and three-day tickets, respectively. For Hall D23 Gold Members, three-day preferred seating tickets are available in a limited quantity for $899. This year, guests must be D23 members to purchase tickets for the event, which will go on sale Jan. 20. Along with a slew of other exhibits and presentations, D23 will feature a new exhibit called "Mickey Mouse One: Walt's Plane," which will see Walt Disney's plane restored and displayed in the Anaheim Convention Center. There will also be a special presentation from The Walt Disney Archives, as well as the return of the Mousequerade costume contest. These join previously announced experiences such as a 50th-anniversary celebration of Bedknobs and Broomsticks, a window dedication event for Walt Disney Archives founder Dave Smith and milestone anniversary ceremonies for Lilo & Stitch, Hercules, Aladdin and The Muppets Christmas Carol. 2022's D23 Expo will celebrate the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company. Announced in September 2020, the bi-annual Expo will host panels, presentations and interactive elements for fans to celebrate all the magic and adventure Disney has to offer. This covers film, television, theme parks and more. It was also previously revealed that, along with the already announced lineup, D23 will also unveil new content from Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel projects. This year, D23 will be held both in-person and on livestream. The last full in-person event took place Aug. 23-25, 2019 and presented extended looks at content from Disney/Pixar, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox, including Raya and the Last Dragon and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. While the next event was originally intended to be held in 2021, it was delayed due to restrictions caused by the pandemic. Tickets for D23 Expo 2022 go on sale Jan. 20. [18:10] Marvel Studios Debuts the First Trailer For Moon Knight https://www.superherohype.com/tv/510119-marvel-studios-debuts-the-first-trailer-for-moon-knight Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight | Official Trailer | Disney+ The next Marvel Studios show is just over two months away. Marvel and Disney+ have announced that Moon Knight will premiere on Wednesday, March 30. That news was accompanied by the series’ first trailer, which finds Steven Grant (Oscar Isaac) in a world of trouble. For one thing, Steven isn’t his real name. He’s actually Marc Spector, and he has dissociative identity disorder. Steven is just one of his personalities, and he seems to be completely unaware of Marc or his alter ego, Moon Knight. Marc/Steven is also the “fist of Khonshu,” the Egyptian god of the Moon. There are even a few glimpses of Khonshu himself in the trailer, unless Marc really is losing his mind. However, we can’t assume it isn’t real, because we see him in action as Moon Knight. And it looks like his costume mystically appears on his body. Here’s the official description for the show: “The series follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.” Additionally, Marvel released a new poster for the series as well. [23:31] Marvel's Eternals Tops Shang-Chi's Disney+ Debut Numbers https://www.cbr.com/marvel-eternals-beats-shang-chi-disney-plus/ In its first five days on streaming on Disney+, Marvel Studios' Eternals bested Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in terms of watchers. On Twitter, analytics company Samba TV pegged Eternals has having drawn in two million households in the United States over its first five days on streaming. Box office reporter Luiz Fernando then put those numbers in context in a subsequent thread, saying this constituted the biggest debut for a Marvel Cinematic Universe film on Disney+. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was the previous record holder at 1.7 million. Fernando then provided a number of movies for comparison from other streamers, such as Netflix and HBO Max. While two million certainly proves a respectable number, Eternals was outdone by such films as Mortal Kombat and The Suicide Squad. That being said, those movies released simultaneously on HBO Max and in theaters, while the two MCU movies started with theatrical runs. As such, the comparisons are not necessarily apples-to-apples. Released in Aug. 2021, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings saw the titular hero making his MCU debut. In the film, Shang-Chi sets out to stop his father, Wenwu, from accidentally releasing an ancient evil known as the Dweller-in-Darkness in hopes of bringing back his deceased wife. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings earned $432.2 million at the worldwide box office against a budget of between $150 and $200 million. Reviews for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings were also quite positive, and the film earned a 91 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Three months later, in Nov. 2021, Eternals arrived. The film follows the Eternals -- who are aliens created by the Celestials to destroy the Deviants -- on Earth as they reunite to prevent an event known as the Emergence. The movie earned around $402 million against a budget of $200 million. However, Eternals didn't fare nearly as well with critics. Reviews for the film were mixed, and Eternals now sits at 48 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the first MCU movie to earn the "Rotten" distinction on that review aggregator. The box office takes for both of those films were affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which still has many reticent to return to theaters. Additionally, neither movie released in China, which is one of the biggest market for movies in the world. Eternals and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings are available to stream now on Disney+. Eternals will receive a home media release on Feb. 15. [29:34] 'It's incredibly exciting!' - town's reaction to reports that new Marvel series is about to start filming in Halifax https://www.halifaxcourier.co.uk/news/people/its-incredibly-exciting-towns-reaction-to-reports-that-new-marvel-series-is-about-to-start-filming-in-halifax-3527728 Halifax is buzzing with talk of the new Marvel series coming to film at Halifax's Piece Hall. As first reported by the Courier on Wednesday, it is understood the latest six-part series from Marvel - Secret Invasion - is what will be filmed at the historic venue later this month. Halifax's MP, Holly Lynch said: "I confess to being a massive Marvel geek and so the prospect of filming taking place here in Halifax is incredibly exciting! "It’s another chance to showcase Halifax to the world and once again demonstrate we can host massive productions like this. "Whilst I am against second jobs for MPs, if they are in need of extras, I very much hope they let me know!” Andrew Murphy, one of the owners of pub Meandering Bear - which is only a short walk from The Piece Hall - said: "It's great for Halifax. "I understand that many Marvel fans like to visit places where they've been filming so hopefully it will bring more tourism to the area. "Hopefully the crew will spend some money in the town centre while they're here. It's all good news for the town." Linda Buckley, Manager of The Gate Cafe Bar and Deli in Westgate Arcade, said: "Anything that brings people to Halifax is a good thing. "There's quite a lot of things being made in Halifax at the moment. It's becoming quite the spot for filming." As reported by the Courier, The Piece Hall will shut between Monday, January 24 and Monday, January 31 for filming of what is understood to be Jambalaya. According to a number of online sources, that is the working title for Marvel's much-anticipated series Secret Invasion, starring Hollywood legend Samuel Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn. Filming for the six-episode series, which also features performances from Oscar-winner Olivia Colman and Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke, began in London last year and is due to be released on Disney+. There has already been activity in The Piece Hall courtyard thought to be related to the upcoming filming, including the arrival of lorries, small tents and set-building equipment. From January 21, there will be road closures in place around The Piece Hall and the filming team will be preparing the area for filming, including setting up large lighting frames and rigs. Businesses inside the Piece Hall will be shut while filming is taking place from January 24, and there will be no access to The Piece Hall. There will be 260 members of cast and extras plus 200 members of crew involved in the project. The Piece Hall and its businesses will be open as usual from Tuesday, February 1. Nicky Chance-Thompson, CEO of The Piece Hall Trust, said: “We can confirm that The Piece Hall will be closed while filming takes place between January 24 and. "It’s a great coup for this iconic venue but we are unable to share any more details about the precise nature of the production at the moment.” SP WACKY QUESTION OF THE EPISODE [33:06] FEEDBACK [39:17] TWITTER [39:17] Legends S.H.I.E.L.D. @LegendsofSHIELD Who is your favorite @TheEternals? https://twitter.com/LegendsofSHIELD/status/1483481165612912646 Derrick - Hack the Planet - Crow @KazekunForever Druig probably won me out as favorite Eternal in the film.
