For those who don’t know, the term “growth mindset” is a term popularised by Carol Dweck in her book Mindset: The New Psychology of Success, and it describes the belief that your characteristics, skills and values can always be developed and improved through work ethic and commitment - genetics and circumstance is just the starting point. The opposite of this is what they call a “fixed” mindset i.e. that you’re born with a set of circumstances such as intelligence and talent and there’s nothing you can do to change the hand you’ve been dealt. As you can imagine, those with a growth mindset are proven to be happier, healthier, higher performing individuals than those with a growth mindset.
