Classicist Mary Beard is the author of Women & Power: A Manifesto and has a cult following because she doesn't fit any kind of mold. She definitely speaks up, and she says whatever she thinks whenever she wants. But it wasn't always like that. In this episode, she talks to Reshma about how she had writer's block for most of her 20s and 30s. It wasn’t until midlife that she figured out how to write in a way that resonated with women. In her manifesto, Mary uncovers the ancient roots of misogyny in the Western world.
