Hailing from RMIT as a Professor and Associate Dean of Mathematical Sciences, Asha part of the 2019-2020 Superstars of STEM program and she brings a real passion and authenticity to mathematics with her undergraduate students. Her enthusiasm is infectious! Hosted by Ben Newsome from Fizzics Education About Professor Asha Rao Asha Rao is a mathematician and a 2019-2020 Superstar of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). An Algebraist by training, she applies algebraic techniques to a wide variety of problems, ranging from designing better codes for communication, to detecting money laundering and describing human interactions in the physical space. Currently Professor and Associate Dean of Mathematical Sciences at RMIT, she is passionate about mathematics and issues that stymie the progress of women and girls in STEM careers. She enjoys reading and sewing, especially using higher mathematics, such as hyperbolic geometry to create one-of-a-kind garments.
