Knowing yourself is based in the past, learning yourself is based on the present. We’re trying to go from the present, into the future and part of that is doing the work to discover who you are, and how you can improve. Welcome to today’s episode of The Mindset Mentor Podcast where today we are diving deep into the transformative power of self-awareness and how it can actually be the ultimate superpower. In a world filled with distractions, I believe that the most valuable gift we can give ourselves is the power of self-awareness. There’s a clear distinction between self-awareness and self-consciousness, which I’m going to explain in this episode. Self awareness is such a superpower because it is like having a clear internal mirror that allows you to manage your emotions effectively. Self-awareness is crucial to your personal development because it enables you to understand your emotions before they arise, giving you the tools to manage them. Today I’m going to give you practical steps to help you develop your self-awareness: Do More Reflective Practices: You can start with journaling as a way to explore both your conscious and unconscious thoughts. Our minds are complex, and journaling is an excellent tool to unravel them. Practice Meditation: I know meditating is difficult for so many people, but instead of looking at meditation as a state you’re trying to get to of “no thoughts”, instead realize that meditation is actually about sitting still in one place so that you can properly observe your thoughts, process them, and work through why they exist and what should be done about them. You will learn more about yourself by observing your thoughts without resistance. Meditation helps you confront your mind and understand what's really going on beneath the surface. Become Thought Aware: Pay close attention to your thoughts. Emotions are often preceded by thoughts, and by acknowledging these thoughts when triggered, you can take steps to change your patterns moving forward.
