#033 – Myriam Wane

The Recluse Podcast - Un pódcast de Allen Orrante

Myriam Wane is a college student who is pursuing a career in secondary education. She writes poetry and is active in the Black Lives Matter movement. She recently made the Cincinnati news for her role in organizing the recent protest at the University of Cincinnati.   In this conversation, Myriam describes what it is like to be a bi-racial black woman in this country and the feelings of imposter syndrome that are associated with that. Myriam and Allen discuss whether or not celebrities, especially those who are black, are obliged to support the Black Lives Movement. They consider the recent music video by Tekashi 6ix9ine and Nicki Minaj. Allen asks Myriam if being in the front and center of this movement scares her. She replied with a quote from Franklin D. Roosevelt: "Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the assessment that something else is more important than fear." Social Media https://www.instagram.com/myriamawane/
