They were constantly feeding, changing, and rocking her to sleep, trying to get her to settle down and rest. One evening, as Olivia's parents were trying to put her to bed, they noticed that she was having a particularly difficult time falling asleep. She was fussy and restless, and no matter what they did, she just couldn't seem to relax. Olivia's mother remembered a trick her own mother had used when she was a baby - a warm bath followed by a massage with some lavender-scented baby oil. So, she gently lifted Olivia from her crib and carried her to the bathroom. She ran a warm bath and placed Olivia in the water, careful to keep her head above the water. She washed Olivia's hair and scrubbed her clean, all the while singing a lullaby and rubbing her back and arms with the lavender oil. After the bath, Olivia's mother wrapped her in a warm, fluffy towel and carried her back to the nursery. She laid her down in the crib and began to massage her feet and legs, using long, soothing strokes. To Olivia's parents' delight, their little one's eyes slowly began to droop. She was finally starting to relax and drift off to sleep. Olivia's parents continued to sing softly and massage her until she was fast asleep. They kissed her on the forehead and whispered, "Sweet dreams, our little angel." And with the soothing sounds of a baby lullaby playing softly in the background, Olivia drifted off into a deep, restful sleep, surrounded by the love of her family.
